A Busy Saturday...

At 1pm Saturday, I walked into Portillo's and approached by two women.

Hi we know you, you're Jim Elliott and we're Mary Ann and Margaret from the class of 1959.

Hey ladies, I'm so glad to meet you.

From that introduction, three classmates from St. Ferdinand grammer school became instant friends.

It started when I was trying to find out if we were going to have a 50 year reunion from St. Ferds.

I missed it but met the two ladies on Classmates dot com.

Mary Ann mentioned she was going to be in town (from North Carolina) and was going to meet with Bill Prybell and Margaret at Portillo's.

Bill didn't show up,,,I think he has a boat and Sat was perfect boat weather.

Anyway, 2 hours of reminising and just general fun talk flew by and we said good-bye and maybe see you again. We all said that 50 yrs ago and never see most everyone from that time.

After leaving Portillo's, I arrived back home at 4pm.

I could hear screaming children and loud young men laughing. While music filled the air.

No doubts about it, it was the block party starting to get going.

I walked to the front of the house and there were all the folks in the neighbor hoood sitting in front of their homes.

If front of our house were the in-laws and numerous friends and relatives.

It seemed like they all had either a beer or a Bratwurst hanging from their mouths.

As far as the food: Brats, Pulled pork--smoked and crocked, salads, beans, corn on the cob...flavored and natural,,,cakes, super chocolate cakes, apple slices, and many little treats.

It was a little hot, like the high 90's and high humidity. Too hot to sit outdoors and I retreated indoors. Luckily, some folks joined us. It was nice they came into the house, but better than that they brought plates of cake and apple splices.

The weather cooled off, and the best was about to begin.

Suddenly there were two loud speakers and a music mixer box. In between was a young fellow by the name of James.

James played a quitar and sang wonderfully. A pleasant surprise.

After that it got late and this Jim hit the bed.

Another great day.
